Cancellation and Renewal Report for April 17
According to reports, NBC is considering axing My Name Is Earl due to low ratings and high production costs. But Earl fans rejoice because word is that Fox could possibly pick up the sitcom.
The critically acclaimed AMC series, Breaking Bad, has already been renewed for a third season. Production is expected to begin later this year with the third season airing in 2010.
Although nothing has been officially announced, it would seem that Reaper has one foot in the grave as creators/executive producers Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters have inked a two-year overall deal with 20th Century Fox TV to join a television series and develop projects for the studio.
The buzz around Hollywood is that Lifetime could be possibly pick up Guiding Light and As The World Turns after the Proctor and Gamble soaps end their runs on CBS. Guiding Light will end on September 18 and it is believed that the network may turn loose of As The World Turns after one more year.
TNT has pulled the plug on Trust Me, the advertising drama starring Eric McCormack and Tom Cavanagh. The show received mediocre reviews and had trouble pulling in viewers.
Fox has decided not to air the final episode of Dollhouse, but it seems that the episode, entitled "Epitaph One," takes place in the future and does not include any of the main cast. If that’s true, it would make sense that Fox would pass on showing it as what seems sure to be the series finale for the show.
NBC has renewed Law & Order: Special Victims Unit for an 11th season though the two stars of the show, Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni, still have not reached deals to return. As the network trying to trim costs, could that mean that L&O: SVU could come back with new stars? Let’s hope not!
Showtime’s The Tudors has been renewed for a fourth and final season. The pickup consists of 10 episodes that Showtime says will dramatize King Henry VIII’s last two tumultuous marriages, to Catherine Howard and Catherine Parr.
NBC has pulled Kings from Sunday nights and will air the remaining eight episodes on Saturday nights at 8 p.m. starting April 18. This would seem to mean a cancellation is forthcoming.

While the creators leaving doesn’t look good for Reaper, you can still let the CW know you want the show to continue even without them.

Please don’t stay silent. They’ll never know how much you’d like Reaper to stay if you never tell them. Executive Producer Tom Spezialy’s still around, and lots of shows do just fine even after a change in the guards.
