‘Reaper’ Fans Be Heard

reaper I’ve written a lot about the campaign to save Chuck, but I have neglected to mention that there is a similar effort out there to keep the CW’s Reaper alive. In a recent article, I mentioned that Reaper’s creators had signed a development deal and it didn’t seem like a good indicator for the show.  I happen to be a huge fan of Reaper as well, so I thought I would share with you the response that the folks at ReaperDMV.com left as a comment on the aforementioned post.

While the creators leaving doesn’t look good for Reaper, you can still let the CW know you want the show to continue even without them.

Please don’t stay silent. They’ll never know how much you’d like Reaper to stay if you never tell them. Executive Producer Tom Spezialy’s still around, and lots of shows do just fine even after a change in the guards.

Domestic fans: since snail mail campaigns work best, here’s the address for Dawn Ostroff at the CW:

I cannot thank you enough for your help. Hopefully we will be successful, but if not at least we went down fighting.

I am sorry to mention that Reaper has already been canceled, The creators left the show and moved on. Reaper is canceled and not in running to be renewed. Sending letters to CW, ABC won’t do much. The difference between Chuck and Reaper is NBC has not canceled Chuck yet and that’s why the campaign has a shot. There are two times that shows get canceled before the season ends, they are dead never to return. In other cases they are waiting for finale numbers to determine next years schedules. Fall line ups are being announced for NBC on May 5, and each next work follows weeks later.

Thanks for your comment Katie. While things aren’t looking good for Reaper at this point, the network has not officially announced a cancellation or renewal. It’s essentially in the same boat as Chuck on that point. As far as the creator’s leaving, that happens - sometimes for the better. Smallville’s creator’s left last year and that show has enjoyed one of it’s best seasons in years.

I do believe, however, that you are right about Chuck’s campaign having a better shot than Reaper’s. Chuck is a decent ratings performer considering the competition it faces on Monday nights. I don’t think NBC could come in with anything that would do better in that timeslot at this point. It has a loyal following and is loved by many television critics and bloggers. It has also had much better network support than Reaper has received.

That said, I love both shows and I would hate to see either of them gone next season.

Hey Katie, that attitude disturbs our “vibe” here. ABC Studios are currently in talks with The CW’s affiliates and cable networks to pick up Reaper, so your statement is null and void.

I don’t know about Chuck since I didn’t really like the only episode I watched. I know it has some similarities with Reaper but that doesn’t mean we fans can’t stick together.

If you don’t like Reaper, please keep that kind of negative feedback to yourself in the future, as I keep my views on Chuck to myself. Thanks.
