Review: Chuck Episode 2.22 – Chuck vs The Ring
The guys over at Chuck know how to do a season finale. The show had me laughing, tearing up, cheering, dropping my jaw, and saying “YES!” It wrapped up the loose ends and teased us for a new season without any disappointment at all.
I have nothing bad to say about the show. Nothing. I loved every minute of it and I felt like it was over way too soon.
Now on to my favorite moments of the Chuck vs The Ring:
-
Jeffster. To be honest, I wasn’t really on-board with the whole Jeffster thing when they made their first appearance. But they rocked the house last night and any doubts I had about them are gone for good.
-
The Awesomes. They could not have cast a better couple to play Devon’s parents. They just fit in every way.
-
Speaking of Daddy Awesome – he had one of the best lines of the night: "Why are you letting Sam Kinison and an Indian lesbian wreck your wedding?"
-
The revelation that Bryce has been working with Orion aka Chuck’s dad to protect him since college. -
Sarah opening all the wedding presents to find the knives. Classic. Though I think the waffle iron would have made a good weapon too.
-
Casey’s team parachuting in through the glass ceiling as Jeffster rocks “Mr. Roboto” (and how incredible was the mix of the score and Styx version of the song intertwined with Jeffster’s version).
-
Ellie doing yoga during the mayhem.
-
Chuck gives Ellie a beach wedding planned by the marines, led by Casey. “No, no, no. It clashes with the bunting."
-
Bryce asks, "Sarah, you’re not coming with me, are you?" and she shakes her head “No.” (a YES moment for me!)
-
Steven Bartowski flashes! He has the intersect in his head too. Did not see that coming!
-
Chuck says he loves Sarah…only not to her, to his dad.
-
Bryce goes out a hero.
-
Chuck makes the sacrifice to re-intersect himself because he IS a hero (like Sarah told him earlier in the episode).
-
Chuck kicks major ass! “Guys, I know kung fu.”
-
Casey’s facial expressions in that final scene were PRICELESS. Adam Baldwin is such a gifted actor. He doesn’t need to say a word to get across what he was saying. His eyes coupled with a few grunts said exactly what we were all thinking. And the “Chuck Me” line had me howling! I watched this scene with my boys no fewer than seven times and they still wanted to play it again.
This show is a keeper. It was one that I will find myself watching again, several times I’m sure. Chuck has gone from being a show I watched and liked at the beginning of season 1 to one of my favorites of all-time. I have never participated in a “save the show” campaign but I felt compelled to do so with Chuck. I will be so disappointed if this show doesn’t get a chance to tell all the stories they have left to tell with another season. I cannot imagine a world without Chuck. I hope NBC will see fit to give it another chance.

I agree with you. An all around finale. And as I’ve been saying during several months, and was confirmed last night, Chuck is the best show in the NBC prime time.
I even now firmly believe that Heroes should be canceled, and Chuck given its time slot and budget. Chuck is, definitely, a better show than Heroes.
