WONKA joins the Nerd Herd in Efforts to Save Chuck

The makers of Nerds candies has joined in the efforts to save the show. Here’s a press release about what they’re doing to help:

WONKA®, maker of beloved WONKA NERDS® candies, will soon be making a very special delivery to executives at NBC! The candy maker today announced it is sending more than 1,000 packs of NERDS to the network in support of TV show “Chuck,” which is being threatened with cancellation. Loyal fans of the show know that title character Chuck is a member of the “Nerd Herd” at fictitious electronics retailer Buy More.
The idea to send NERDS came from “Chuck” co-creator and producer Josh Schwartz in an interview with The New York Times’ Dave Itzkoff published April 20. In it, Schwartz suggests fans of the show send NERDS to NBC, similar to the peanuts sent by CBS’ “Jericho” fans when that show was in danger.
“We agreed with Josh that a bunch of NERDS could make a big difference for ‘Chuck,’ and that nothing could be more appropriate,” said Tricia Bowles, spokesperson, Nestlé Confections & Snacks. “We’re showing our support for the show’s cast, crew, viewers and Nerd Herds everywhere, and we hope fans continue to do the same.”
“Chuck” loyalists wanting to send NERDS to NBC can send them to:

Is Chuck Renewed or Not?

chuck104

Rumors of Chuck’s renewal have been circulating the internet over the past few days. Twitter was abuzz this morning with unofficial news that the show was coming back.  They were citing an article by LA Weekly’s Nikki Finke for which the headline read simply, “NBC Renews Chuck, Medium, Law & Order; Announcement on Monday.”  The article consisted of only two lines – “That’s what sources are telling me. Expect a major renewals announcement from NBC on Monday.”

News from NBC was expected to come at tomorrow’s “infront” presentation, but multiple sources are saying that the announcement may be delayed.

According to a video posted by E! Online, Zachary Levi says he has been told we may have to wait another week or more before learning of Chuck’s fate.  Levi also told EW’s Michael Ausiello that he felt confident about the show’s chances.

Variety says "signs are pointing to" a third season and The Hollywood Reporter says the show’s chances "have improved slightly."

The bottom line – don’t rejoice until we hear the words straight from Ben Silverman’s mouth.

Until then, keep the faith, and don’t stop trying to SAVE CHUCK!

Chris Fedak on the Chuck Finale

TV critic (and Chuck supporter) Alan Sepinwall spoke with Chuck co-creator Chris Fedak about the implications of the season 2 finale, “Chuck vs. the Ring,” Jeffster, the campaign to save the show and various other Chuck things.  Here is a bit of the Q&A:

What exactly does that final scene mean in terms of what Chuck can do now?
The first thing I should say is Schwartz has sent over a Warner Bros. security expert to my house. So if I say anything that might spoil season three, I think he’s authorized to take me out. He looks like former KGB.

The final scene is a launching pad for season three. It’s something that we’ve kind of teased, ever so slightly earlier in the season. It gets back to what you asked me the last time we talked about the Feistel code, the scene (in "Chuck vs. the Dream Job") where Chuck’s dad asks him to look at the computer screen, the idea is that his dad knows inside the Intersect is the ability to decipher a code. That was our first subtle hint that maybe the Intersect didn’t just store information, but it could provide abilities. In our final scene, with the new Intersect update is that there’s now abilities stored inside.

Review: Chuck Episode 2.22 – Chuck vs The Ring

The guys over at Chuck know how to do a season finale. The show had me laughing, tearing up, cheering, dropping my jaw, and saying “YES!”  It wrapped up the loose ends and teased us for a new season without any disappointment at all.

I have nothing bad to say about the show.  Nothing.  I loved every minute of it and I felt like it was over way too soon.

Now on to my favorite moments of the Chuck vs The Ring:

Top Five Reasons NBC Should Renew Chuck According to Josh Schwartz

The Top Five Reasons NBC Should Renew "Chuck," by Josh Schwartz

1. It’s the only family-friendly action comedy on television. We grew up with these shows in the ’80s, and it would be terrible if kids today didn’t have their own explosion-filled romantic comedy to watch.

2. Zachary Levi and Yvonne Strahovski are movie stars in the making. They’re amazing actors, incredibly funny, and they have the X factor … so much chemistry. We’d also point out the Cult of Adam Baldwin here, but, in truth, we’re scared to even mention the cult.

3. Our season finale ends with a game-changing cliffhanger. Not only does it cap an incredible season, it propels Chuck into even greater and more exciting adventures.

4. The "Chuck" cast. They’re incredible. They’re funny. They sometimes form themselves into pop supergroups (see: Jeffster) We also have an amazing guest cast: Michael Clarke Duncan, Nicole Richie, Chevy Chase, Scott Bakula, John Larroquette, Jordana Brewster, Dominic Monaghan and many others. Who will you see next?

5. Lastly, Chris Fedak said people will burn down their living rooms if this is the series finale. And if they do, he’ll be arrested. He has a baby on the way. For that child’s sake, we need to keep the show on so people don’t torch their TVs, which would lead to Chris’ incarceration.

Zachary Levi on Chuck and the Game Changing Finale

zacharyleviTV Guide spoke with Zachary Levi about tonight’s Chuck finale:

On the occasion of Chuck’s season finale (Monday at 8 pm/ET), Levi spoke with TVGuide.com about his relationship with super-hot secret agent Sarah, working with amazing guest stars, and the "game-changing" twist to come.

TVGuide.com: Were you surprised that Chuck and Sarah had an all-too-quick make-out session in last week’s episode? Have you been happy with the progression of their relationship over the first two seasons?
Zach Levi: Chuck and Sarah’s relationship has continued to entice, provoke and, in many cases, frustrate — in the best possible ways — our dedicated audience. And while I can empathize with all of these feelings, I know that it makes for good TV. Move forward in baby steps, make sure its progressing, but keep the fans, and Chuck, wanting more.

TVGuide.com: Do you think Chuck really trusted his dad before he built the machine to get The Intersect out of his head?
Levi: I do think so, yes. Really, as soon as he found out the truth behind his dad’s identity, his issues with their relationship, and the past, were for the most part resolved.

TVGuide.com: If the show continues, could we see more of Chuck’s dad? Will he become part of Ellie and Chuck’s lives?
Levi: Only the writers could tell you how much more of Chuck’s dad we’ll get. Well, the writers and Scott Bakula’s agent. But if I had it my way, I’d keep him around as much as possible.

TVGuide.com: You’ve had some really amazing guest stars this season. Who kept you on your toes the most?
Levi: It’s difficult to pick out any particular guest star as being better or stronger than any other, partly because it’s really so subjective, and partly because I’d hate to be accused of playing favorites. But by saying nothing I’d be missing an opportunity to point out that Tony Hale, though more of a recurring character than a true guest star, is one of the most talented people I’ve ever worked with. Pick an episode, any episode, and you’ll see his talent shine.

TVGuide.com: Which episode this season was overall the most fun to film?
Levi: If I had to pick one, it would be "Chuck vs. The Dream Job." Being able to work with both Scott Bakula and Chevy Chase for the first time was a bit mind blowing. We find out that Orion is Chuck’s dad … and it didn’t hurt that I finally got to wear some cool spy gear.

TVGuide.com: Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak have said the season finale is "game-changing." Can you give us a hint at how the show would change in Season 3?
Levi: Since there is no possible way of expressing the game-changing element of the finale and how it will affect a third season, you’re just going to wait and see for yourself. Praying for another season wouldn’t hurt either.

Can Subway Save Chuck? Maybe.

It seems that Subway has taken notice of the impact that Chuck product placements have made on its sales and they let NBC know about it.  This is from TV Week’s Josef Adalian’s blog, TV MoJoe:

A few weeks ago, “Chuck” featured a pretty prominent product placement for Subway. We’re talking characters lovingly caressing a footlong sub, with one even mentioning the company’s “$5 footlongs” slogan in a scene.

Unlike Tina Fey’s casual mention of McDonald’s McFlurry on “30 Rock” last year, the Subway love in “Chuck” was paid for. It generated plenty of attention on Madison Avenue, including a glowing writeup in AdAge.

Subway marketing officer Tony Pace told the magazine it was happy with the arrangement. But TVMoJoe has learned that “happy” may have been an understatement.

According to two people familar with the situation, Subway’s internal tracking of the “Chuck” promotion was off the charts. One source labeled it the best such product placement the restaurant chain has done “in several years.”

And here’s the kicker: Pace was so impressed with “Chuck’s” impact on sandwich sales, he actually called a top NBC ad sales executive to let him know just how much Subway loved the Chuckster. What’s more, Pace told NBC the company hoped the network decided to renew “Chuck” for another season.

An NBC source confirmed to TVWeek’s Jon Lafayette that the call took place. Just what impact the conversation may have on NBC’s decision remains to be seen. As big as Subway is, it’s only one advertiser.

Let’s put Subway’s sales over the top today so their execs will call NBC again and tell them to SAVE CHUCK!
